Are you looking for something fun to do for Halloween? We will again be hosting Room-A-Treat. Dress in your best Halloween costume and come to Musicology on October 29th. Some of our instructors will be handing out candy and treats in their rooms. They may even be in costume, too! Student of the Month. Matthew Glenn
What is your favorite food?I’m always down to go eat Mexican food. What is the best thing you have learned from your teacher? He’s taught me a variety of scales, and to play and practice the music that you like. Teacher of the Month Benjamin Holloway What are the things you like the most about teaching? It’s rewarding to see, when you’ve been working on something for a while, and the “light bulb” goes on and the student gets it. I really like when my students get it figured out. How do you inspire students to practice more? I try to relate whatever we’re working on to things my students are interested in. I try to make it as fun as possible. What part do you feel that playing or singing in a group has in a student's development? Singing or playing in a group gets you listening to other people and keeps you from getting lost in your own music. It also helps you learn skills that are easy to miss when you are playing an instrument by yourself. What is your favorite type of music? I like Progressive Metal. The simplest way to describe it is if you took classical music and played it in a rock band. What methods will you use to teach your students? I will use songs my students like to teach them the fundamentals of music. What are your hobbies, besides music? I like to write music and play with other musicians. I am also a coffee enthusiast! |
